This is definitely a hidden gem. If it weren't for TripAdvisor, we would've never found this place. Very calm, tranquil environment. Is almost as if you've stepped back in time walking amongst the beautiful architecture. Beautiful scenery.

The 17 gardens you can wander through are absolutely magnificent and have their own story to tell. The hacienda's house, along with original furniture, is spectacular. English guides available or you can walk all over on your own. Small restaurant on site and taxis available at the hotel.

It was so peaceful walking around the theme gardens. We were there early in the morning so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Since we were there on a Saturday there were people there setting up for a wedding later in the day. Although the gardens were my favorite part, I also enjoyed touring the house and found... More

We visited this location with a guide from Guanajuato and the setting is enchanting. Lovely and expansive gardens, and the rooms of the hacienda that were open for viewing were fascinating. Quite a look into the lives of the former aristocracy. Built in the late 1600’s it was home to Captain Gabriel de Barrera, owners of the local Valenciana silver... More

You'll need a taxi to get here but if you like a quiet morning of walking in a variety of gardens (italian, japanese, cactus,....) San Gabriel is your place. Add to that the visit to the hacienda house turned into a museum. The whole complex could do with some maintenance but that even gives the place an extra romantic touch.

I hired Fernando Ibarra 415-105-6547 San Miguel to drive me from San Miguel to Guanajuato, plus a day of tours in Guanajuato. AMAZING! His knowledge of Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera was informative, and more info then on a regular tour. Most don't know the Queen of England stayed here. We also went to Valencia, the Mummy museum, and the... More

I took a cheap cab ride from the historic center to Museo Exhacienda San Gabriel Barrera. It is easy to get to, so highly recommended. The entrance was cheap, just a few bucks, and you can freely walk around the gardens and surprisingly the house as well. There were several gardens to walk through all with a different theme, and...
