Small museum but has some fantastic collections of art. Both the temporary and permanent exhibitions are worth seeing. It's easy to miss the location of this museum- as you're looking up at that big blue monastery/church from the alley-like street, it is the building to the left.

The Museo del Pueblo is well situated near the main University building in central Guanajuato. Located in a colonial residence, the exhibits are spread over 3 floors. They have many temporary exhibits, and I highly recommend the Korean exhibit they have going on right now, October 2016.

This is a very centrally located museum consisting of a series of galleries nicely displayed in a former hacienda. By far and away my favorite temporary exhibit is the work of Andres Alarcon. This young artist from Colombia has tremendous talent and his works picturing the loneliness of some people is very moving and extraordinarily well done.

The Museum of the People of Guanajuato exhibits and important permanent collection with representative Mexican art from 17th-19th centuries. It features works of Hermenegildo Bustos, a remarkable portrait painter for the precision in his drawings.

It certainly would help if you could speak & read Spanish...but many interesting artifacts that are self explanatory...as well we were given a sheet in English.. If it is raining outside..a great way to spend the day..

I enjoyed walking around this museum. It would have been nice to have somewhere to SIT while viewing the art. There is a video on the second floor with no seating. I believe the Sergio Hernandez exhibit is a temporary installation. None of the descriptions are in English. There are also some religious paintings.

I thought this was going to be some sort of history museum, but it is actually an art museum, and it is a nice one at that. Various galleries covering quite a range, from 100s years old local portraits, to religious art, to somewhat Pre-Raphalelite stuff by local artists. Nice building too, and only 25 pesos to get it.

Interesting in the whole view of Guanajuato but not a must to appreciate the city. I would recommend it as part of your visit.
