Must see for architects etc. No lines. 30 pesos each to get in. Frida's house was under reconstruction but Diego's house and Juan Gorman's house are both open. Allot 1+ hours at this location.

Being a huge fan of Frida and Diego's for many years, I could not wait to see their residences. Went to Frida's house first and that was great. On my last day in Mexico City, I visited this museum which I did not know at first was actually Diego and Frida's first house that they shared during their first marriage... More

This museum is the place were Diego Rivera lived and worked and it is interesting for different reasons. One is the architecture- it shows a curious modernist landmark in the heart of San Angel with its cobblestone streets. The other reason is that this place provides you a view of Diego in his work environment. For the moment access is... More

The house where Diego lived and worked is interesting for different reasons. For me the most compelling reason is the architecture: it preserves a curious modernist landmark in the heart of San Angel Inn with its cobblestone streets. Not very wheelchair-friendly, mind you. It must have been difficult for Frida and Diego to go up those stairs. The other reason is... More

This small studio is where Diego Rivera did some of his work. There is a video explaining one of his paintings and the studio is set up to simulate the atmosphere in the painting. Unfortunately a part of the garden, the connected building and the adjacent house with similar architecture are undergoing renovations and are not accessible.

This is a great spot, the buildings are lovely - i especially loved Diego's studio. Barely anyone else was there when we were there - lucky!

No one goes here! Their homes are amazing examples of architecture and the collection of Diego Rivera's personal items is amazing. Free to all on Sunday!

We ended up here by accident, but it was totally worth it to see these studios of Diego and Frida. The cactus fence is, of course, iconic of their studio/home. The main room in Diego's studio is one of the most vibrant and colorful that we saw during our entire time in Mexico. It's a nice walk from here to... More

If you are an art lover, this place has history, where Diego and Frida worked on different stages of their lives. Interesting to see, the architectural structure is also interesting. They have some of their work displayed casually.

The architecture of the house is outstanding and is a must in Mexico City but don't expect to see a lot of pains from Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Plan to go there around noon so after or before you visit this place you can go to San Angel Inn (it is worth to make a reservation for SAI)

Staying in San Angel

Neighbourhood Profile
San Angel
San Ángel is known for its artistic vibe and elegant details displayed throughout its streets, antique residences and haciendas where famous actors like Consuelo Velázquez, Capulina and other prominent families used to live and that have now been turned into beautiful galleries, cafés and restaurants. An array of cultural and artistic activities are organized in the neighborhood, but it is on Saturdays when the San Jacinto Plaza and surroundings really shine as artists gather to exhibit a variety of arts and crafts, from paintings to clothing.
