The cooking class was very well organized. We started by deciding what to make during the class and then headed off to the market to get supplies. It was hard to imagine that we would be able to accomplish everything on the list but the class was very well organized so we had time to do a lot of different... More

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of doing a day of cooking with Oscar. We have done a fair few cooking schools in Asia and here in Latin America and while it wasn't the cheapest, this was easily one of the best (if not the best)! From start to finish it was an amazing day where little touches... More

Not being a good cook, I was slightly apprehensive about joining this class. However, it was so much fun, and the result of our cooking efforts were extremely enjoyable. Casa Crespo's Chef Oscar was very professional, knowledgeable and considerate of the fact that we had not made Mexican food before. We were given the choice of what we could make,... More

A very hands on class. After shopping for supplies at the market, we had a very hands on class. Making ice cream, moles, soup, cerviche, and tamales. What fun slicing, dicing, chopping and sautéing anything from squash flowers to almonds.

Casa Crespo was recommended to us when another cooking class we inquired after was found to be full. It turned out to be a lucky break for us. We were joined by three young Americans(my friend and I are Canadian) which added to interesting conversation. Chef Oscar was very professional, knowledgeable and considerate. We had many choices in what we... More

We looked forward to an introduction to the renowned cuisine of the state of Oaxaca. As we sat down with Chef Oscar Carrizosa we realized we had found an experienced professional who orchestrated with great skill and calm a review of the dishes we wished to learn about. We made a trip to the market with Oscar that was as... More

Oscar was welcoming, friendly, and informative. He is a bit reserved, but that was ok. Our class had 3 people. We chose the menu over coffee or chocolate, then went to shop at one of my favorite markets, Sanchez Pascuas. On the way he pointed out things like the tree bloom for which Oaxaca is named, the meaning of a... More

My husband and I found this class to be a true highlight of our visit. Oscar invited us to help shape the menu according to our wishes as a group, and the collection of dishes came together beautifully! Visiting the market was great fun, especially as we learned many interesting details along the way and had the opportunity to sample... More

We started the day with a taste of tamales, moles and hot chocolate and then walked to all a market where we selected ingredients for our chosen dishes. Back at Casa Crespo we got down to cooking at least 9 dishes including starters, mains, deserts and a passion fruit drink. Everyone was included in the preparation and then we sat... More

This was truly a great course from when I arrived I felt welcome even though I was solo. The breakfast was amazing and then the chef asked us what we wanted to cook I think that was a nice touch as we were able to pick the dishes that best suited us. We started with a local market food to... More
