Because Parque Juárez (known locally as “El Llano”) is directly across Calle Pino Suarez from my hostel (Don Nino), I wound up spending a fair amount of time there during my two week stay in Oaxaca. I was there at times from early morning to late in the evening, and I always felt safe. It seemed there was always activity... More

This lovely park was a five minute walk from our Airbnb so on several morning it was our first outing of the day. The Park always feels safe as it transitions from one day to from a quiet peaceful respite to a bustling marketplace or carnival. This park is worth several visits as each day we went there it was... There are lots of reasons for visiting Park Llano. You can jog here, people watch, go to the fabulous market on Friday, do aerobic classes. It offers many benches and lots of shade.

We have sat here several times to eat a sandwich and we love relaxing in the shade and watching the world go by. A beautiful spot to enjoy Oaxacan everyday life without being pestered by hawkers as happens in the Zocalo all the time. More Mexicans going about their business

Fri has the big market with food to make at home or eat right there. Sunday am has Zumba. The rest of the time its a park for sitting, talking or watching the skaters or the musicians. Plenty of food trucks serve the park and the big VIPs diner is on the corner

Popular with locals, the flea market lines the perimeter of this large park on weekends, including pop-up fondas on the north side for a sit down meal.

Always a nice shady place to sit and rest, with various events for both children and adults often on view. Even at it's quietest the park provides an oasis of green and is a good place to people watch.

I love this place. It's a nice spot to sit on a bench and read a book, to people watch or get some exercise. This is one of the few places I have found so far in the city where it feels appropriate to run or otherwise exercise in public. They also have a great market there every Friday. Definitely... More

This used to be the city zoo many years ago, after that, a park that has undergone some renovations but allways seems to be needing more. It's a nice place for a walk or a jog. On Fridays you can buy fruits, vegetables and some excellent tacos at the "mercadito". You can also get your shoes shined and watch the... More
