This is perhaps one of the loveliest contemporary spots to hang out in Oaxaca. This former convent that enters on to what is now a gated alley has become a beautifully restored contemporary art exhibition space (which also has a top quality table selling works...More

This ancient convent/church, long a dreary lodging house, was transformed a few years ago by the Harp Helu Fondacion. Their architect kept some of the bones of the old buildings, but turned them into fresh, airy spaces containing exhibitions of local artists, historical photo records,...More

I think the intended point of this series of buildings is not centrally one of its outputs, which is the restoration of the Exconvento de San Pablo. Rather, it is more centrally a vehicle to discuss how one restores Oaxacan historical buildings, many of which...More

A fantastic hidden gem! This ex-convent serves as a multipurpose cultural center housing a library, art galleries, meeting rooms, and a concert hall. Beautifully restored as well. Events are always going on here, especially concerts in the evening. Would highly recommend a visit. Bring a...More

It is pretty interesting place to visit. Also difficult to tell what's inside until you enter. It is in short an art gallery, library, religious display and children's playground all in one place. Outside kid's carousel, restaurant and nice café complete the picture.

I visited the art gallery that is in the same area. The exhibitions were wonderful and there was no entry fee. There was a library and coffee area too.

The cultural center of San Pablo is only two blocks from the Zocalo and you can tell, by the knotted metal gates you pass through, that you are entering a special place. There are changing exhibits here and there is usually music or a presentation...More

This was, by far, the best spot in Oaxaca. I think they are affiliated with the Textile Museum, as they share the same block. It's easy to miss all the goodness within this spot. There is a courtyard that crosses through the space. On Hildago,...More

I spent a lot of time at the Exconvento de San Pablo during two weeks in Oaxaca, because you can find a little bit of everything there. The buildings themselves are beautifully and lovingly restored, including the chapel, library, and exhibit spaces that include an...More
