Check out this church in the small town of Tlachochahuaya, on the way to Teotitlan del Valle. It has been beautifully restored inside and you can climb a spiral staircase to see the small bellows pipe organ.

San Jerónimo has benefitted from ten years of restoration and is a really lovely gem. The interior is unique is it was painted by native artisans in a beautiful floral style. For a ten peso donation, you can walk the circular stairway to the lift...More

Our tour guide took us behind the scenes and showed us many little "secrets" of the church. It was amazing to see all the hints of conquest here. So many little details that would have been missed. We also were able to see the pipe...More

We were tipped off to the significance of San Jeronimo by our wonderful guide, who explained to us how the stones taken from the earlier Zapotec site, Dainzu, were used to build the church here. That in itself is nothing new in Mexico. What's wonderful...More

This church was unique in terms of its construction, unfortunately, not kept clean and badly in need of upkeep. not too popular with the tourists, it was just that my local friend took me there.

This absolutely beautiful church has been lovingly and beautifully restored. The inside walls are covered with painted plants and animals of the area, with cherubs and angels as well. Don't miss the stunningly detailed pipe organ in the choir loft upstairs.

I can't add what others, more informed than me, have provided other than I loved it. Off the highway between Oaxaca and Hervia El Agua, the church is about .4 k into the small town, spottable by it's towers. It's just. A beautiful church, check...More
