This place was really cool. So much history, you could almost feel yourself transported back into the past. It honestly felt like a movie backdrop of a POTC movie. Please watch your children. There are no railings or safety warnings, which although it gives you...More

Veracruz is a bit off the beaten track when it comes to the usual tourist haunts in the region but it is well worth a visit. We enjoyed San Juan de Ulua immensely. it is a beautiful church with a really untouched and unspoiled vibe....More

One you get there make sure to take carry water with you and while you can do the tour on your own, I would say to go with a tour guide and its well worth having the tour guide with you. It's a must see...More

Not going to spend much time in review. A must see to understand Veracruz History better. Hard to believe was cultivated from local coral reef with its prison labor, dungeons providing rarely a year of life after lock up. Take your time and a guided...More

You can take a trolley car in the pier or in the aquarium plaza for around 150 pesos and all the tour takes from 2 to 3 hours. Take your cap or hat and water with you because all the tour is in the sun.

A very interesting place full of history. Impressive venue, very well taken care of. Being next to the sea and having the inner canals give the visitors an unique experience. Try to get a certified guide at the entrance. Its cheap and totally worth it

This is a historic place and has many interesting facts. In order to truly know and get the depth of this place, a guide is highly recommended. Paulina, an English tour guide gave a us a full narration of this Castle.

What is the best way to see this fort? Do I take a taxi and find a guide there or go to central and ask the tour companies the cost? Also, I would prefer a guide in English.

The best and fastest is to ask your hotel front desk. Alternatively, visit the Veracruz Tourist Office ( google it in advance for location and opening hours ) - there should be NO problem in finding an English-speaking tour... More
