Very nice door. The main entrance to the fortified city of Campeche from the land. Of the two main doors to the city this ois the best.

I love this land. The magical Campeche with all its historical an personal heritage. Love to discover every little new story about Mayan culture.

There were only two gates in the original walled city of Campeche - one facing the land and one facing the sea. The idea being that if they were attacked by land, they would escape to the sea and vice versa. The gate and adjoining pieces of wall are in remarkable condition.
