El Centro on Isla Mujeres is a "region" of a smallish island, and there's everything you'd ever want. Eateries, tourists, every kind of shop, street traffic of all sorts, and it's small and friendly, and you learn your way around very quickly so even a first timer wouldn't feel intimidated. Very Nice Indeed!

A lot of restaurants serving all types of Mexican food and local seafood. Fun entertainment along the street to have a good time after dinner.

The Centro is a boisterous, tourist-loaded souvenir trap with louts selling everything from over-rated tours to cheap trinkets BUT it's still an enjoyable place to visit for a few hours. There are a variety of restaurants with all price ranges and very good Mexican food.

It´s a good place to visit... you can go by a trip tour or taking the ferry on your own, which is not expensive, once you arrive can rent a golf car to drive around the island or can simply work, just gotta be hydrated becuase it´s really hot...my family and I decided to walk but we took little breaks...there... Isla Mujeres's "downtown" is small, with shops, restaurants and bars. You can reach the island's signpost going through Calle Abasolo (many people don't know it). The ferry pier is also in "downtown". Many taxis and golf cars for rent, but the best way to walk in "Centro" is by foot.

So let's get one thing right... This place is for tourists and you will be charged accordingly. In addition you will need to use discretion when deciding where to spend your money because there are unfortunately a fair amount of tourist traps here. You should not expect to eat like a local in El Centro with the exception of a... More

We went downtown to hang out everyday we were in Isla Mujeres. It is just the happening place to be. We ate at a lot of restaurants and had drinks and listened to live music at night which was fun. However the shops downtown are such a rip off! We didn't buy anything there! I tried to buy a little... More

El Centro gives you a taste of local life. There are weekend events on the square, food carts, church and local grocery store.
