80 people or so on our tour 1/26, but handled very well. We had a 30 minute introductory discussion about Merida history and growth and the homes we were about to visit. The hosts were very welcoming and cordial. Our group was split so the tour was manageable for us and the host homes. We learned a great deal and... More

Before the tour there is the opportunity to mingle with other English speaking tourists and Merida residents who can answer questions and share local information and contacts. Our tour was also lead by Brent Marsh who gave the best history of Merida I have found. The three houses & gardens we visited were all very different and all were introduced... More

Our guide Brent was incredible. First he gave us the history of the Centro area and Merida...he was so clear and concise:-) I was fascinated by the 'Mosaico de Pasta' colored cement floor tiles. Each Tuesday morning 3 different houses are visited and shown by volunteer guides and home owners. It's a real look into the past and moving forward... More

Over a 2 hour or so period on Tuesday mornings you take an escorted walking tour of several homes in the Historical Centro part of Merida. Homes in Centro tend to be narrow but long and sit on very deep lots. It is fascinating to see the insides of some of these ordinary-looking homes (when viewed from the street). Apparently... More

Having gone on several previous house tours at the English Library. I found this one very disappointing. The meeting and the speaker were excellent. The first property was amazing and all I expected. The next two properties were slightly past the renovation stage and most of the time was spent telling us they were for sale or other properties they... More

While visiting Merida back in January, we went on the house and garden tour with Brent Marsh as guide. The tour started with a description of how the typical colonial houses in the historic district were built and evolved. Very informative and interesting. Brent explained how the economic boom in the Yucatan back in the 1900s came about (and it's... More

We toured four homes with my sister. What was particularly nice was that one was under construction and the other three very different. This is a way to see the great variety of architecture and styles that the homes of Merida have. Our introductions after lovely pastries and good coffee dealt with housing styles during different eras and also the... More

We came to the tour assuming the first half hour would be boring general info about homes and were excited for the premise of seeing how people live in Merida. Things turned out to be flipped around... Sorry introduction before the lecture from a staff member made the mention that expats move in and out of Merida all the time... More

We spent the morning on a wonderful walking home tour which was sponsored by the Merida English Library. Before the tour, our guide Brent gave an informative talk about the history of Merida and the homes. We visited four homes and were welcomed into each by the owners. Three of the fours homes we visited were for sale. The tour... More
