Do it!

So beautiful speed boating across the lagoons and then floating down the canal. We even spotted some baby crocs!

The information building is in the town of Muyil. Here you can look at your package options and speak to a guide. Our tour was pricey but it included round trip transportation to our car, a guided tour of the ruins in Muyil along with an informative nature walk, the boat ride to the two lagoons, floating through the lagoon... My family and I travel quite a bit, however, we occasionally do tours when we feel like there is going to be culture and history we can learn from the locals. This was definitely a tour I would highly recommend to people. We initially started off with Omar, who was so lovely explaining the history of Tulum, however, our guide/tour... More

We rarely take organized tours; the write-up about this tour in the Lonely Planet caught our attention. We made reservations the day before in their tiny office in Tulum; Yolanda and her good English were helpful! We started precisely on time the next day with a couple form Mexico City and two young women from Italy; we are from Colorado.... More

Amazing tour with a knowledgeable guide fluent in English, Spanish, and Mayan. Never been anywhere like this on earth before. You get to raft down the river (bring your own snorkel + mask), visit a small Mayan ruin, and boat in the gigantic brackish reserve where you can spot manatees. Ends with a trip to the most picturesque beach I've... More

Just went on the ancient canal river trip. Very well run trip Pepe is an excellent guide and gave lots of really interesting information about the reserve, the Mayan culture and many other topics. Floating down the water canal in our upside down lifejackets was so relaxing the whole group had a very tranquil chatting, floating experience. There were also... More

Mexico is expanding rapidly through aggressive tourism. These gentle and extremely knowledgeable guides will continue to be the stewards to protect these lands into the future. They grew up in this jungle and love and care for it and are therefore passionate about preserving it. I felt privledged (I hope you do too) to walk alongside these guides as I... More

We walked through the path to the beach, viewing the ruins and stopping at a tall tower you could climb up and view the area near the beach. When we arrived at the beach we signed up for the boat ride in the lagoon and the float down the waterway near the lagoon, which was a highlight of the day.... More

We found the office near the main square and booked a trip to the village of Muyil which included transportation, a snack on arrival and lunch at the end of the trip. We had chosen not to go on the boats with the rest of the group and were charged less for the tour. We found lots to see. The... More

Great in so many ways. Our guide was brilliant and passionate about Sian Ka'an. We learned about the trees and the ruins ... walked through jungle. A few of us climbed a look-out tower for an amazing view. The boat ride was fun and exciting! The best part was floating down the water with the current just looking at the... More
