Most Mt. Etna excursions stop at the Silvestri Craters on the lava-covered slopes, but with this exclusive tour you can reach the top of Europe’s highest active volcano with a volcanologist guide. Take a cable car and off-road vehicle to Torre del Filosofo and then continue on foot about a mile (2 kilometers) to the summit craters. Learn about the volcano’s history from your guide and enjoy sweeping views over the coastline.

This is a somewhat impressive site which unfortunately was not open on New Year's Day. It looks in amazing condition for it's age and apparently houses an interesting museum which we were looking for to seeing.

This is located on top hill in a small town in between Catania and Adrano where you can see the old buildings and a nice viewpoint to see the valley.

I particularly wanted to visit this historic monument and travelled there especially to see it. However it was closed and I was very disappointed. There was not much info outside to tell the long history of the Norman keep. It's still very impressive and interesting however.

the imposing castle is situated in the main square adjacent to the duomo. After visiting these two sites just stop at the cafe (if not mistaken Spitalieri) and have a cannolo Siciliano. The best cannolo I had in Sicily.

The well-preserved castle is imposing, both from the outside as well as from the inside. Narrow vaulted corridors and stairways lead to main halls over a number of floors, which are also served with lifts. Very good use of lighting has been made to bring out the Norman-era atmosphere. This castle-museum houses some of the best artifacts from Neolithic to the Norman times, some of which have surely seen battle. The panoramic views from the rooftop are breathtaking. The castle is a must-see if visiting Adrano and it is also within walking distance of other nearby attractions. (A town map was provided by the tourist information office across the road from the castle).
