This museum is sheltered in the family home of General Ignacio Allende, hero of the revolution. The street is called Cuna de Allende (cradle of Allende). The general was born to a wealthy family and the house reflects that status. The museum gives one an excellent overview of the history of San Miguel, of the General, and Mexico in general.... More

This is the house where Ignacio Allende and his countrymen planned the birth of the Mexican revolution. This tour will help you understand the roll San Miguel de Allende had in the war

Very interesting way to get an overview of the people involved in the Mexican revolution and seeing how upper class people of the time lived. Descriptions are in Spanish and English. Check on hours of operation, we wnet on Easter weekend, so it might have been a bit skechty due to hoiday hours.

Right in the ceter of town - this historic home was revamped a few years ago - specializing in the Mexican Independence from Spain - 1810-1820. Many interesting home areas - kitchens, stables, bedrooms and displays of Colonel allende's uniforms and life in Mexico under Spanish rule. This city was called San Miguel de Chichimecas (local indigenous people) - then... More

The ground floor of the house tells the history of the town, which, as I must admit I know very little about Mexican history in general, was really informative and interesting. The upstairs was furnished as the early Allende family might have done. We spent a very pleasant hour there.

This home is right on El Jardin in the heart of the city. The rooms have Spanish and English explanations that share the history of Ignancio Allende which is the story of Mexico's War of Independence. The upper floor shows what life was like for a wealthy family in the early 19th century. Worth the half hour it takes to... More

This building houses an art academy and some impressive murals, especially the unfinished work by the master David Alfaro Siqueiros. Great place to wander the halls and then sit in the garden to rest.
