A beautiful interior courtyard with archways which lead to many smaller galleries. I was fortunate to see an exhibit of black and white photography by Keith Dannemiller from Mexico City whose work I had admired and seen on the internet. It was striking, gorgeous and moving. There was also an exhibit which featured interesting prints of women combined with architecture.... More

I'm surprised San Miguel has let this place go into decline, because it has so much promise and potential, and does offer some nice cultural activities from time to time. But needs renovation big time.

The Bellas Artes used to be an old convent but was converted to an arts centre many years ago. Classes are held throughout the building, primarily art, sculpture and design. The lovely courtyard has comfortable seating in the midst of flowering fruit trees. Once a month free concerts are held there with additional seating provided. On the ground floor you... More

Gorgeous and amazing. This building oozes history, you can almost hear snatches of conversations from hundreds of years before. Built by a young girl (14) whose parents died, leaving her one of the largest fortunes in Mexico. Instead of being pressured into marriage, she followed what was the only other option for women at that time, she dedicated her life... More

This was my favorite building in all of San Miguel de Allende. You walk through an arched entry into this large courtyard with colonnades on all sides and, in the center, is a landscaped sculpture garden. Off the colonnades are the galleries and studios of artists from one of the two major art schools in the city.

Beautifully restored this building serves many purposes today. Art gallery, bookstore and auditorium surround a lovely garden.

There were some wonderful exhibits, a beautiful Siquieros-painted room, and lovely sculpture in the interior plaza. We highly recommend stopping in to see this place!

Bellas Artes may be the premier space for art in all of San Miguel. I think the shows here are consistently more appealing than what I see elsewhere, including at Fabrica Aurora. The mix of featured Mexican and Norte American artists (Kraus,, Daborn, Soberman) identify the galleris here as a mecca for both known and rising artists on the international... More

We stumbled on this delightful place & were glad we did. Wall murals abound. there's a reading room & classes. No real guidance in what goes on there but we loved it.

OK, but if you have something better to do I would skip this. Some local culture but not great, to say the least.
