We went to this site with Coyote Canyon, and we had some serious issues with their driver, who nearly ruined the whole day for us. But once we arrived at the site, the experience went from one star to five, maybe even six, because of our guide Roxanne. She's been mentioned by other reviewers, so I'll just say she is... More

Information at the site, apart from a few signs, is only in Spanish. The tour guide speaks only Spanish. All printed material and the introductory exhibition is only in Spanish. So you should either pay extra to go with an arranged group which will have its own English speaking guide, or do some preparation yourself. And then you will find... More

First, book this visit through an agency ahead of time...most negative reviews come from those who just show up. Also, be prepared to walk a lot in the open under the sun. We booked through Coyote Canyon Adventures and were prepared (water, sunblock, proper hats, and comfortable hiking shoes) and that could make all the difference between a positive and... More

Our guide, Albert Coffee, gave us an excellent understanding of the history of Mesoamerica which lead to the explanation of Canada de la Virgen. He is an archeologist who worked on this site so he understands the fine details of this discovery. He makes the tour very interesting and covers a lot of material in the 4 hours. He lives... More

If you don not have an English guide or speak Spanish, it is not worth the effort. The visitor center is in Spanish only, the ticket person does not speak English either. If you drive yourself be aware the tours are on the hour only. If the tour is full you'll have to wait for the next bus an hour... More

While this might not be the most spectacular archaeological site you'll ever visit, it will be the most informative tour ever if you go with Albert Coffee. With a background in archaeology, this San Miguel resident was involved with the excavation and has a wealth of knowledge about every aspect of the site. He was responsive to questions and make... I cannot imagine a better guide. He is a trained archeologist who helped excavate the site, and he has perfected a running commentary about this surprisingly interesting area.

Albert Coffee was an excellent guide. He was knowledgeable and answered all our questions honestly and with the detail we requested. The site was worth seeing particularly with the interpretation Albert provided. The lunch that followed, prepared by local women, was delicious and the setting was amazing. A really worthwhile experience!

To view the site, you are required to have a guide. We chose to go with the guides at the site (only $40 pesos) or you can use a tour company (cost variable). We had mistakenly thought we could just show up and walk around the exterior and do photos but that is not true. Luckily we arrived at 10am,... More

I was very surprised to see something like that. After about 30 minutes from San Miguel we board the minibus for a little time and we have to walk a beautiful scenery and after a little time suddenly you find this precolombian ruins, the place very clean well conserved. There are a lot of sings very explanatory about this place,if... More
