We went with Albert Coffee who is So knowledgeable and seems to really enjoy explaining all the meaning of the ruins to the group. We had one person in our group who has some walking problems and was recovering from bronchitis so the "hike" up the hill from the bus which is at 7,000 feet was too much for him.... More

Albert weaves a well described story. He is clear and facual. To view site, we found two different tours: one by Albert and one organizated by the library - both cost $50 per person. Both have their van pick you up downtown and drive you to the site entry. There you meet your guide. From there both tours (with separate... More

Nearly about 16 km south east from the city of San Miguel you will find this archeological site. It extends over 12 hectares along the central basin of the rio Laja. The construction of the Pyramids and the other structures architectural along the basin of the rio Laja are attributed to the groups of the Toltecs-Chichimecas. This was one site... More

This tour was a highlight of our trip to San Miguel. We enjoyed our visit to the ruins with Albert Coffee. He is an archeologist and very knowledgeable. I think his tour is the best way to visit Canada De Las Virgen, because it would be hard to get the history of the site and experience it without a guide.... More

Wow. This is an amazing place, and Albert Coffee our English-speaking guide seems to know just about everything you might be curious to ask about the history of the ancient pre-Hispanic people who built this pyramid. After visiting Cañada de la Virgen, and soaking up the information offered in this tour, I dont think we will never see San Miguel... More

This was a very interesting place to visit. We walked all over it and practiced our Spanish listening to the tour guides.

We came here with low expectations but walked away utterly impressed. This is a great attraction to come to and leatn a little about the prehispanic life of the region. the pyramids are only 35% exavated and still there is a lot to see. Come prepared with a bottle of water, sunblock, and hat and confortable shoes. In small groups,... More

Out of all the years we have visited San Miguel, we had never come here! Amazing place! Recently unearthed, with no more than two decades opened, it is an amazing place! They could really use English speaking guides, many Americans in our group didn't speak a drop of Spanish and were "watching t.v., with the mute button on!" I tried... More

Albert Coffe's tour is an absolute must--He is so personalbe and so knowledgeable about Canaca de Virgin ANd the site only allows about 50 people at a time--still relative and untouched ruin--and Albert is a master of bringing the area to life!!!

We booked the trip through Daniel at Transportearte and he recommended Roxanne, a PHD archaeologist who worked at the site. A van drives you near the pyramid and you walk in from there. Roxanne is extremely knowledgeable and science minded. It was a pleasure to learn from her. After the tour, we went to Zana restaurant, for lunch. Authentic food... More
