Baja Discovery has figured out the perfect formula for visiting the whales, teaching us about whales (and life outdoors), outstanding staff, and setting. How do they make such amazing meals so far from anywhere? The night sky was undiluted by nearby lights. We had lots of laughter and moments of silent awe when the 'friendlies' visited the ponga. Bring kids.... More

Just returned from San Ignacio Lagoon and 4 nights, 3 full days staying at BajaDiscoveries special Rocky Point camp in the Lagoon. I was travelling with Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the organization responsible for helping create this biosphere, a regulated habitat for protecting this special birthing grounds for grey whales. Angie Mulder, owner of Bajadiscovers, has the BEST location... More

Sometimes when you have sky high expectations, the experience can fall a little short. Not so with the gray whales of San Ignacio lagoon. The descriptions and photos are accurate but they simply cannot convey the magic being there -- the sight of seeing the whales approach, the sound and feel of the spray when they breathe and, of course,... This trip was extraordinarily special in so many ways. First the trip takes you about 400 miles south of the US border to Laguna San Ignacio, one of the three major birthing lagoons of the Pacific Gray Whale. And to get there you fly in a small chartered plane that flies at an altitude of about 10,000 ft. As a... More

I patted baby whales and their mothers. Rustic camp with wind-resistant tents. Excellent care by guides and locals. Two 90-minute trips for 3 days to get close to the whales. When a thirty-ton momma brings her two-ton baby up to the boat to greet you, it is the thrill of a lifetime. The drivers always keep your safety and the... More

I visited the whales with Baja Discovery in early March 2016. It was an incredible experience - to view the whales from shore, and viewing them so closely while in the pangas. While the best was petting the friendly mom and babies that came to visit (I even kissed one!), just observing these awesome creatures in their natural habitat was... More

My first time with Baja Discovery to visit the birthing place of the California gray whales. This is a must take trip! Well organized, great to be in a remote peaceful area detached from everything, friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated staff was a joy to be around, food and kitchen staff served fantastic meals and snacks! Watching the friendly whales come... More

This was my 22nd year with Baja Discovery. I'll continue to chose them as my tour company of choice because of the wonderful experiences I always come away with. I was accompanied by six of my friends/family, and they all had a fantastic time. It's not only the whales, but the entire environment--desert, lagoon, and, especially for me this year,... More

We've traveled around the world and have seen many places that are awsome. This trip connected with us on a different level. Looking into the eye's of these huge wild mammels that choose to come to you and be touched leaves a memory that we will never forget. The accomodations and food were excellent considering where you are. The staff... More

We liked this adventure so much we took 11 friends back with us for a second year. Just watching the whales from the campsite is enough: spy hops, nursing, breaches, and just old spouting but the physical contact with the whales is one of the most moving experiences I've had, looking into their eyes and touching their amazingly soft skin...
