About
Kanto Lampo Waterfall is located in the heart of Bali’s rainforest. It's best known for its iconic rock formation, which gives the waterfall an impressive step-like appearance popular with travelers and photographers. Here, you can take pictures from within the cascading water and also dip in the surrounding pools afterward. The waterfall is a short 5-minute walk down the stairs from the entrance.
The best way to visit Kanto Lampo is with one of the local waterfall tours, which will take you to a series of the best waterfalls Bali has to offer, all in one day.

It is very busy and people were queuing to pose for pictures at the waterfall in a pretty respectful manner but the area in front of the waterfall was very busy with people waiting. We did find the quick hike up to the nearby Tan Hana Cave worthwhile and only took a few minutes - just past here is a good spot to look at the waterfall from a cliff. The area is quite green and we saw quite a few people lounging undisturbed on the rocks and just up the creek. The place costs 20K to enter per person and you buy tickets before going down the stairs to the waterfall and then there will be a spot to verify the ticket about 20 steps down. There is a change room where you can wash your feet but you may still feel a little bit exposed because even though they are raised up there is an unobstructed view of the outside. There is a restaurant halfway down the stairs to the waterfall, some souvenir stalls, lockers and toilets in the area as well. I believe there were recommendations to pay some small bills to use the toilets and some of the facilities in the area too. Getting to the place is easy by Gojek/Grab and they will allow drop off but if you need pickup you must go to the main road because the locals will not allow pickup in this area unless it is a local taxi. There are places to park the scooters near the ticketing office and a few car spots in a parking lot further away. We brought our water shoes and are glad we did because the stairs getting down to the area are a little wet and the creek is rocky and doesn't have the best visibility. We saw a pretty big spider near one of the statues but a local shared that it was harmless. There are lots of waterfalls in this area and you might want to seek out a cluster of them if you don't want to wait for your solo shots.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 June 2023
- chloe951xUnited Kingdom49 contributionsGo at the right time for a good experience! We went to this waterfall at 9:30am and it was the perfect time for less crowds. There was a lockers right next to it for 5k and also supplies i.e., towels, flip flops to purchase. We didn’t line up for the main waterfall as there were parts around to take photos but I would say it took 15 minutes. If you have a guide take pictures, remember to tip them (they are very good at their job getting all the angles and poses for you!). There was also a small pool, walking around up the river and a cave. It is a gorgeous location absolutely surrounded by nature and hasn’t been ruined with tourist attractions such as swings.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 August 2023
- Meyly AnggrainiBali, Indonesia174 contributionsA Relaxing Waterfall Near DenpasarThis not-so-high waterfall is worth to visit! Especially when you are staying in Denpasar, because its easy to reach. 30 mins from Sanur by motorbike, around 45 mins from Denpasar. This place is not really crowded (at the moment), also, you can enjoy the river around the waterfall, it has some stones to sit and relax. If there are so many people, if you want to have a pic at the center, you have to wait the queue. There is a guy on standby there to take your pics by tipping him around Rp 10k. Was a nice waterfall! with its rocks, so you can enjoy the view, the sounds, the place, and the smell of a river longer :)Visited December 2019Written 13 January 2020

Beautiful waterfall to visit but it’s more of a photoshoot visit. You’d need to wait minimum of an hour for your turn. It’s worth the wait because the photographers really know what they’re doing! They help out with poses and their videos are fantastic.
Just a heads up if you’re going plan an outfit for the shoot + afterwards cuz you’re going to get super wet.
There’s a very kind lady by the lockers who has a small changing place where you can ask her if you can change there.

The waterfall is very beautiful and impressive and the locals there that take pictures are very good at what they do. Other that seeing the waerfall and taking pictures there is not much else to do but the scenery is worth the visit.

Personally, it was not worth visiting this fall because the fall was full of people posing for Insta shots.
You just cannot enjoy the nature and relax in the waterfall.
If you want a place for your social media shot, go and visit this place.
If you want to visit a natural water fall and enjoy the nature, don’t visit this place.

This is a great waterfall but when it’s busy, it’s pretty hard to get anywhere close. There are lots of guides that take people here to do instagram photos & there’s a huge line at busy times. No reason you can’t photobomb their shots or alternatively, the cascades down the sides are equally amazing.
Quite a lot of steep & slippery stairs down so be careful!

Nice but the local photographers (paying service) take to much time for taking pictures with ther clients. Sometimes 1/2hour.

The way to the waterfall is with about 100 steps. Down is easy, back is a little harder. A beautiful waterfall. Also great for refreshment, because you can stand in the water and under the waterfall here. There may be many visitors present.

Nice waterfall for photos and just to cool off great waterfall for photos but we couldn’t wait any longer for the queue so we just took some photos of the waterfall next to the main one tip: walk up to the cave past the cave you can get pictures of the waterfall behind you and there is no queue it’s not like the photo you get when your in the waterfall but it’s still quite good

How much for the entrance fee?

It’s supposed to be 15000IDR but nobody ever asked for the fee. Everybody leaves their bag before the waterfall and the guy who’s supposed to collect it was in the water and nobody thought to bring money into the waterfall! Didn’t see anybody pay either.

I believe you can wear shorts, or speedos etc. but I don't think you are allowed in the waterfall nude. However, I am not 100% sure!

Depends on where u stayin, the distance in between. As long as th sun still up, it is always tje better time. The watterfall it self is already "nature-shaped" beautifully, but with the sunrays on it, u'll hv a complete scene, enchanted ;)

Het is voor een kind van 11 jaar zeker te doen. Ze moet wel in het bezit zijn van een zwemdiploma.

I don't intend to go in the water or get wet. Can I still see the waterfall from afar?
Is it slippery getting down to the waterfall?

In my opinion you cant really see this waterfall, because the entrance and thw waterfall are next each other. So you just can enjoy it beside the waterfall but not clearly see how its look like. But maybe another traveller have other option to get to see it without get into the water.

If we want to take a day drip to the waterfall, what are the other interesting things to see in the area? We are travelling with two children : 5 and 10.

Hi
the area is actually near Ubud, you can chose to visit the temples in that area or shop at the ubud Art market. The route to the waterfall is rather slippery please do be careful when bringing children there esp if they are not able to swim.

Is het veilig voor je rugzak mee te nemen ?
Peter Hordijk
The Hague, The Netherlands1,831 contributions
Je kunt gerust een rugzak meenemen. Je hebt opberg ruimte. Echter deze zijn wel open. Misschien is een kluisje meenemen voor kostbaarheden verstandiger.
