Top tip from me would be: Skip the Taxi rides when you just want to go downtown, take the bus. Taxi run $20+ one way but the bus is $1 one way.

We too were scammed by Thrifty. Try Avis or Hertz or perhaps your place of lodging can do something for you.

No, but make sure you have insurance snd not just your card you carry in your glovebox.
