We did one of the night tours to see the glowing plankton! It was very nice and the water was actually pretty warm. The only thing that crosses your mind every now and then are the Alligators that actually live in the Lagoon, but our guide assured us that there are none around and nobody ever got hurt. So we... The title is a line from "The Descent", by Jeff Long. You'd have to read it to understand (5/5 novel, so go!) We went because of the bioluminiscent plankton in the lagoon. You go at night, ask around Puerto for the tour vans, they pick you up at your hotel. Take a couple of beers for the road. They give... More

It appears that the night tour is the big tourist draw, but if you want a wonderful birding experience Lalo and his son are expert guides. We saw over 40 species on a wonderful morning on the lagoon. For lunch we stopped at a lovely cabana for good comida on a pristine and empty section of beach. Early morning the... More

Touch the water to see it light up. It's a peaceful place to swim at night with the stars above and luminescent water.

I can only comment on this natural wonder for its night time wonders. We took an evening boat excursion with Pascon Travel to enjoy this huge body of water at night. The night sky was brilliant ( living in Toronto, I had not really seen a real sky in many years.) Taking a lancha into the darkness, we used lights... More

I was lucky enough to visit during a bioluminescent phase when there was no moon—perfect conditions for a glowing night swim. We took a boat out into the depths of the pitch-black lagoon and then jumped overboard into darkness. The bioluminescence was thrilling, but be warned: the lagoon is also home to flying fish. One of them jumped out of... More

We went on a lagoon tour with Javier Santos who is very knowledgeable and friendly. We also enjoyed lunch prepared by his parents on the beach at Puerto Suelo. What a nice day!

Drove up from Puerto to see the lagoon and stopped for a bite at the restaurant. Don't know the name of the dish we had but it was excellent. It was 3 pastry shells fillled with shrimp and cheese with a small bowl of not-to-hot salsa. Our server, Donald, who's English was excellent made sure to explain many of the... More

Brill one/two day trip. fresh fish, crocs, beautiful scenery and getting together with the locals. watch the undertow in the sea and the crabs under rocks in the lagoon. Chill for the day in real beautiful mexico. Dont forget to stop off in the village on the lagoon and get fresh coconut in a bag with chilli sauce.
