Thinking back I have to laugh! Mostly because it was a, somewhat, strenuous hike. The path starts at a fork near the end of Johnston Canyon Trail, where you have to hike up a few steps. The path, in itself, is comfortably wide and surrounded...More

The hike up to the ink pots was really not difficult at all. There isn't much to see when hiking up, but the place at the top is quite lovely and peaceful, so the short hike really made up for any missing view during the...More

We decided to go all the way to the ink pots at the end of the Johnston Canyon trail and were so glad we did. They were the absolute highlight of this walk and I'm amazed some people say "not to bother". The colors were...More

The first ~3.0 km (one way) is an easy trail on mostly boardwalk and flat surfaces. The walk is thru Johnston canyon which is truly spectacular. Most people stop here at the falls. I suggest an early start, before 10 am, if you want to...More

Johnston Canyon is an OK hike along the river. Paved most of the way- so be prepared for all abilities and strollers. Pretty waterfall, although crowds made it hard to enjoy. Recommended that you continue on past the waterfall to Ink Pots. Less traveled and...More

We worked our way through the crowds at Johnson Canyon and enjoyed the views. At the top of the falls you are almost half way to the Ink Pots and it is worth the walk if you can continue. There is more uphill to go,...More

We started this hike on the Moose Meadows trail( which only adds approximately 1 km to the hike) to avoid the huge crowds in Johnson Canyon. The Moose Meadows part of the hike was stunning-we only saw three people on the entire trail! Once we...More

The trail is nice and the Ink Pots are interesting. We had a nice lunch by the river. We couldn't really see all the different colours, maybe it wasn't a good day - some smoke from wildfires in BC and partially clouded.

Sounds like you are well prepared. Having a pair of gloves and toque or head band in your back pack wouldn't hurt. In September you need to be prepared for all types of weather. Yesterday we hiked Sunshine Meadows and it... More
