We were looking for something easy and relaxing to do and someone suggested the vermilion lakes and the loop. It's a very family, easy, accessible hike.

Charming little side road to stop and view these lakes. Not a heck of a lot to see and not much space for families to enjoy the scenery perhaps a dedicated space with some picnic tables would enhance the experience.

I wanted to see these lakes but pretty much just happened to find them earlier today. Nice drive and very scenic. No shortage of birds.

To the detractor from Calgary who doesn't like moss and dirt and mosquitoes - it's called NATURE. That's what people go there for! Stay home is you dislike nature!

Vermillion Lakes offers a beautiful short drive which can be done with the car, by foot or by bike. In the winter the lakes are frozen and if you are lucky you can see moose of elk. . In the summer it offers a great spot for birdwatching of beaver

Been there early in the morning. It is about 10 minutes drive from town. The scene is great. We even see a bear. Highly recommend.

Great scenery and peaceful drive. The view of the mountains is spectacular! Saw quite a few deer on the drive along Vermilion Lakes.

Winter or summer, the views from this quick drive or easy, flat walk, are a true example of the famed Rocky Mountain beauty. A photographers haven of macro and micro shots can include the iconic view of Mt Rundle reflected on the lake or frozen ice, Eagles in their nests, paddlers meandering, frosted crystals on light dappled grasses. In winter, the roads are kept open very nicely, providing excellent access to this delightful bit of wilderness just outside of Banff townsite. In the summer, there are trails for walking or cycling, and of course, the lakes are great for canoeing. In the winter, while the lakes do freeze over, I would be cautious about exploring to far on... More
