The tunnel mountain trail is one of the shortest to do in Banff. Anyone who hadn't hiked before might want to do a few practise ones on there. The hike is steep at times, but doable, especially when you know there isn't long to the top. The view are truly incredible, some good ones before you even reach the top.

The Tunnel Mountain Trail is a great way to discover Banff and it's surroundings. It is not a too demanding hike and it is reachable within minutes from the center of Banff. And from the top of Tunnel Mountain, the panoramic view on the town of Banff, the Bow River and the surrounding mountains is amazing.

My wife, my seven-year-old and I hiked this trail to the top of Tunnel Mountain from just above the Banff Centre. It was a bit more of a hike than we bargained for, but once we started we couldn't stop until we got to the top. There were many people on the trail, some even jogging it. The trail is... More

We started this hike by walking down the road to the entrance of the campground. The campground is closed and the road is closed to cars. About a 15 minute walk on the scenic road gets you to the trail head. Very nice trail with lots of people on it. Young, old it's a nice hike for all with great... More

This walk took my husband and I about an hour up and half an hour down. It was fairly easy as the incline is not much, but this makes it tiring because you feel like you're walking a long way without going up much. Pretty good view from the top. The trail is well maintained and easy to follow.

This is a gem of a hiking trail and good for families. It is a short trail to the top, but depending where you start, you will feel the elevation. Still the rewards at the top are worth the effort. If you want to avoid some steeper elevation, start at the Tunnel Mountain Road point higher up than Julian Road.... More

One get a very good flavor of the Rockies. The trail winds about giving a good city and the river view. A very good hike.

I did this by myself and found it a little challenging but not too difficult, the narrowness of the path in some places demands you watch where you place your feet.I started at eight arriving for great views and a feeling of satisfaction.

Having never really hiked a mountain trail before, I was unsure of what to expect. It was a challenging hike for me but well worth the effort once I took in the outstanding views along the way and at the top. A beautiful way to spend the morning. It was a great introduction to hiking and a memorable way to... More

I love the hike up this mountain. I always stay at the Douglas Fir Resort and I either work to the trail head of this mountain or drive to the parking lot at the trail head. Walking from Douglas Fir to the Trail Head will take approx. 30 min. then 1 hr up and 1 hr down. I am 61... More
