A steady incline for most of the hike. Good hiking shoes and poles are recommended. The guide from White Mountain Adventures (Adrienne) was excellent and ensured the pace of the ascent and descent were comfortable for all hiking participants. There was an appropriate amount of...More

This is a 12 km hike with nice views of Crowfoot Glacier and other mountains. It is a little long but worth the hike. It is the longest of the 4 hikes that people recommended i take on the Icefields Highway.

Being still somewhat winter, the hike was a bit muddy with various mounds of snow and a few places where an avalanche clearly took down a few trees. We did not reach the lake as there was too much snow for us to trek through....More

On a blue sky day in mid July when the wild flowers are in their full splendor, the Helen Lake trail is unsurpassed! In fact, it is one of my very top hikes ever! Start as early as you can to get ahead of the...More

Loved this trail! It starts in the trees, then opens up beautifully to alpine meadows with incredible mountain views. It is a big day of hiking so I would bring a picnic lunch and warm layers.

Did this hike 3 times as it´s one the premier hikes along the Icefields Parkway you can easily go to. It´s about a 12 km roundtrip to Helen Lake, but you should try to climb the Ridge once you've reached Helen Lake. It adds just...More

Loved this hike and I'll go again. Lots of Marmots at the lake! It's rated easy I think but it's a good walk up. Don't expect it to be flat. Super cool!

Great day hike and worth the effort especially up to Dolomite Pass. If you make it to Helen Lake then you need to make that extra effort to head up to the pass (or branch off in another direction once you reach the ridge) and...More

The alpine views are beautiful with wildflowers growing everywhere. The lake is a jewel. The trail is not real difficult for a beginner.

This hike has it all - hiking in the pines, through flowering meadows, across streams, to lovely Helen Lake! After lunch we hiked a little further up to the Dolomite Ridge. Saw lots of fluffy marmots running around, and bear paw prints on snow patches!
