Out of all the lakes we seen this trip, Moraine Lake was my favorite. So beautiful! But come after 7 in the evening to enjoy, less people. Be sure to take the trail up the rock pile for the best view.

You see why it's called pile of rocks but the climb up is well worth it. Various views down on the lake which is a different much deeper shade than Lake Louise.

Winding and steep road from Lake Louise offers wonderful views of the mountains and lakes of Alberta.

They strictly control the number of cars allowed up at a time and there is no free shuttle, so it stays less busy than Lake Louise. At full capacity the boathouse had canoes available. We waited in the car line for maybe 5-10 minutes around...More

Anyone in the Lake Louise area must make the side trip to Moraine Lake. The view is beautiful and a must see. Go early because the parking area fills fast and they close the road to limit access. You won't believe the views.

We arrived in early June and the lake was still icy. The picture I have on my profile is a picture of Moraine Lake. It was breathtaking.

Just visited the lake yesterday (29 May) and although it was still mostly frozen, the view was awesome. Personally, we feel that it looks more unique with the glistening crystal clear water with ice floating on it. Must see!

One of those spectacular places that you want everyone to see before they die. Would love to return again to enjoy the serenity, beauty, light ...it's quite difficult to describe the beauty of this scenery except that it will take your breath away. A must...More

What makes this lake so magical is its scale. It is one of the smaller lakes, much more intimate than Lake Louise and one feels one could almost walk across it. Arriving before 10 a.m. gives you lots of time to explore the whole area...More

Wow, wow, wow. What else can be said. Easily the most beautiful lake we've ever seen. The water here was more beautiful than the Florida Keys. As many have said, GO EARLY, the parking lot was full by 9:00AM. Much more beautiful than Lake Louise.

Is that drive from Lake Louise to Moraine Lake on Moraine Lake Road? Google Map shows it as over an hour. Is it better to do Lake Louise or Lake Moraine first? Thanks!

I am not sure if its called Lake Morraine road but it's only around 20-30 mins. It's a narrow road and there is a queue at the "entrance" (a few miles to the Lake Morraine parking area) if there is no space for parking.
is the Moraine lake already thawed or started thawing? we will be there on 28 May, do you think the road to the lake will be opened by then? thanks!!

Planning a visit this summer, hoping to rent a canoe. Will have my dog with me, do they allow pets on the canoe with you? He will have a dog life jacket.
