The Bow is more impressive as part of Banff National Park. In Calgary, it is just a confined waterway. Some people canoe it in the summer. A few years ago, it flooded and caused chaos in Alberta's largest city. The Park in the downtown area is pleasant in the summer, and the River Cafe is one of the best in... More

The Bow River run from the west to the east through Calgary. People play in the river, fish, raft and canoe in the river. There are beautiful walking paths on both sides of the river.

You have arrived in heaven. Bring a ton of space on camera cards or cell phones. I know people that have travelled the world and put the friendly people and Canadian Rockies in the top 3 in all of their experiences for pleasure and beauty. Please respect the wildlife.

Even in winter, the path along the Elbow / Bow River is cleared so dog walkers, strollers and joggers can access. Nice view down to the river, and views of bridges dotted with groups of Canadian geese back a bit too early

Calgary did not excite us all that much. After going to the museum, we decided to walk along the river. Three hour free parking on the street made it easy. Calgary was still recovering from a snow storm so we had to watch our step with lots of slick spots. It was a Thursday and first sunny day in awhile... More

I love the Bow.. During all seasons it's beautiful. Calgary is a very lucky city to have such a beautiful river bisecting the city. The pathways and wildlife make it even better. The river is a great place to just go and gather your thoughts.

If you're in Calgary and a flyfisher you need to fish the Blue Ribbon bow it's a beautiful river to drift fish. You will hook into some nice Rainbows and Brown trout.
