I didn't know these were supposed to represent trees, but I'm not great with understanding art. I love them lit up! Neat to see if in the area, no need to go out of your way.

Many people wonder what these things are. Well besides being street art, they act as a wind break. When a strong chinook winds roles in from the West, Calgary's "urban canyons" (streets between sky scrappers) act as a wind funnel. These Tree Sculptures somehow slow down or divert the wind. They also look great at night since they are light... More

This street is amazing, it really stands out when you drive by or look down the street. Lots of pedestrians walking around and its a great added feature to the down town core.

There was a bit of a(n uninformed) ruckus when they were installed, but these very modern-looking sculptures actually DO something: they break up the wind tunnel effect in the downtown corridors, helping prevent exciting things like skyscraper buildings' windows being sucked out by the venturi effect! Science saving your lives by not being guillotined by flying sheets of glass. Now... More

Tree sculptures are so fun to see! They are a good night structure to see because of the lights at night. It doesn't take a long time out of your trip to drive by or to walk through.

Well coming across these a few years ago...I was rather intrigued at the art not knowing the purpose. Through a little research...I came to understand that the purpose was to cut down on the wind tunnelling on Stephen Ave. I am not sure if they do the job.....but that being said....they are creative, artistic and have a purpose. Congrat's of... More

These are cool sculptures but you're not missing out on anything earth-shattering if you skip this attraction. I use the term "attraction" very loosely as it's just something you would see walking down the street. It's not like people flock to Stephen Avenue to see this - like I said before, you might walk by it on your way to... More

I love these sculptures. They bring art to the heart of downtown. It becomes the focal point for west 8th avenue. Go shopping on the promenade and take some great photos with the trees int he background. If only the rest of our city had more outside art!~

Stephen Avenue is great place to hang out, with a great variety of cafes, shops, restaurants and bars, from cheap to ultra expensive. On the way there or on the way back, it's great to stroll on this section of the mall underneath these gigantic Galleria Trees. Although interesting to look at, they are actually designed to reduce the wind... More
