Pan for gold in the creek that launched the biggest gold rush the world has ever known. There’s still gold to be found here, all you need is the right combination of patience and luck. Take your pan to Claim #6 on Bonanza Creek, dig some dirt from the surrounding banks and wash it out in the river. Any gold you find, you can keep.

You just gotta go

When you go to Dawson you just gotta pan for gold and this is the only place you can without claim jumping, what else do I need to say. I was lucky and got gold in my first pan!

Claim #6 was one of the places to visit in our trip to the Yukon. The claim is kind of narrow and with lots of people panning for gold. It is free and on the road containing another attractions, like the Dredge #4 We spent about two hours panning, but not a single spec of gold. I guess after so... More

Unfortunately, we didn't find any gold... But the activity was fun. Lots of people there trying their luck. Great for kids and families. You need a pan as there is nothing around this claim.

I had my sister's pan and spent an hour diligently panning the gravel, finding nothing. The looking was a lot of fun though, and a lot of work.

I could have panned for gold all day! So much fun; such suspense to thing that you MIGHT have "color" in your pan! Free gold panning along Bonanza Creek was the highlight of my trip to the Yukon! The odd person will find a nugget and the rest of us are quite content to to have had the experience of... More

We give it a try every time we go, but lady luck has not meant it too well with us, yet. Be sure to bring a pale, shovel, rubber boots and a chair that can be put in the water.

We drove some of the back roads about the Gold Fields. This is an empty place, miles of wilderness. I was amazed with the gold miners in the 19th century, how did they live like this.

Good time out in the sun ... Hoping to find anything but it has been mined so much that it is really tough to come away with anything

Spent a couple of hours down at the creek panning for gold. my dog enjoyed splashing through the creek. had the place to myself. bring lunch and a chair plus all your panning supplies. It's a fun day but gold isn't a guarantee.

It was fun to drive down by Bonanza Creek and stop and read all the information boards. You felt like you got a real flavour for the place. Claim 6 is just a spot by the river where you can poke around in the rocks and imagine what it might have been like in 1897. We were not in to... More
