This is a clean, bright local market, with really good restaurants - no chains here. There's a European-style grocery store with excellent selections of fresh produce and meats, some really good restaurants, a decent bakery that also features excellent Mexican dishes, a wonderful florist, great kitchenware store, candles and essential oils, a liquor store, a coffee/gelato shop, a tea shop,... I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to visit this market as there’s not much here. But what is really worth coming to see are the beautiful spring planters along the Fraser River walkway. It is especially pretty when the planters are bursting with spring-bulb color. Grab a coffee at the market then take a stroll on the... More

This market is located along the boardwalk, it's worth a visit for a nice light snack or lunch. It also has a pub plus an Asian restaurant, which we may try sometime in the future.

There's no market here, not like what one would think it is given it is meant to compete with Granville Island and Lonsdale Quay. There's just some casual restaurants and food outlets, a few gift stores and one general grocery which is not of the budget price variety for the most part.

The River Market is more fun in the summer when you can hear the laughter of children as they play in the land-locked tugboat, and people are out walking their dogs.

I live here after being away for 12 years. I cannot figure out why this place is just not happening. It is surrounded by residents, right on the water, but lacking something. There is a grocery store but I guess I was looking for a mini Granville Island feel. They could keep all the restaurants and stores currently there but... More

Tourists to the Lower Mainland of BC should NOT consider the River Market, on it's own, as a destination. However, when combined with the Pier Park and Skytrain Ride to New Westminster, the River Market becomes a quaint spot to re-energize before returning to Vancouver, or traveling east into the interior. While shopping is limited, the choice of food and... More

Doesn't compare to lonsdale quay at all. Not much in the way of arts, crafts, stores. The walk along the river is beautiful but I wouldn't go back to the "market". Maybe we missed the main part? Ha ha.

Back again and very little has changed since our last visit to this shopping location. Did not see anything worth while bargains for shopping & very few shoppers were walking the area!
