This was our first visit....we had seen this place from a distance when we were hiking in the White Lake Protected area. It was an Open House and really well set up and extremely interesting, even for a non-science person like me. Really worth a tour if they are available this coming summer. I agree with other reviewers.....the setting is... More

Enjoyed a visit to the observatory although some of the information went over my head. My wife, as a retired physics teacher understood more! You have to walk from the road for 10-15 minutes but it is quite an easy walk. There are information points around the site and a small visitors centre with more information. It was very quiet... We didn't even know this observatory was here, but I'm so glad someone recommended we go, because the site is incredible. Located among the hills of Penticton, shielded from radio interference. I've never seen a radio observatory this large, and later I found out that it's the largest in Canada. One has to park her car about 10-15 min walk... More

Been there many times when they had yearly open houses! Lots to do, lots to see. People who work there were extremely friendly. Would love to go there at night and star gaze!

If you are into astronomy, stars or radio wave...you should go, it is interesting. I love that they put up a public evening of stars watching

Located just south of Penticton, near White Lake is this amazing hidden treasure! The scenery/vista are breathtaking! A great experience for family. There are guided tours on weekends, but self-guided mid week. which is still great. Take lots of time absorbing what you are reading, listening, understanding. Good for the Canadian government keeping this fascinating facility open to the public!... More

Wow! What an amazing hidden treasure! To start with, the scenery/vista was breathtaking! I was completely intrigued with the whole experience. There are guided tours on weekends, but we were there during the week, so it was a self-guided tour, which was great. We took our time absorbing what we were in the midst of - reading, listening, understanding. I... More

We went to see the meteor shower so it was dark, it may have been more interesting to actually look around it in the day time. Unfortunately no meteors and loads of thunder and lightening, quite scary actually

Last year, while staying in Penticton, we drove to the DRAL for a tour. Our son was 15 at the time and has always been interested in astronomy. We weren't sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. Our guide, who did work at the Labratory, gave a tour of the facility as well as a facinating presentation. He was... More
