Immediately upon arriving in Chinatown we were approached for money... No big deal after all coming from London we're used to that. But there so so many doped up people there, syringes on the floor, broken glass... It seriously did not feel like a safe...More

This Chinatown is quite small, compared to others we've seen. We checked out the little streets and alleys and found some interesting shops and photogenic nooks and crannies. While in Vancouver, this area can easily be explored in a couple of hours, so you can...More

I can only compare Chinatown Vancouver with Chinatown, New York, which i visited earlier. There it was a clean, vibrant, busy place and i felt very safe. Had some good food there as well. In Vancouver i was not feeling comfortable. Poverty, drunks, beggars and...More

We were surprised to see the number of homeless and the number of homeless that would try to intimidate you. I've traveled plenty, however my children were not accustomed to dealing with the homeless. Quick walk through Chinatown to see the architecture and some of...More

Too bad! Grew up in Vancouver, loved to go down to Chinatown..yummy food, great little funky shops, good vibe, great produce and fish markets above (east of) Main Street. So sad to see it run down, empty shops, no spirit! Nothing to shop for, no...More

It's really not worth going too. Very small, only a few shops that serve the local Asian population. No decent restaurants and borders onto east Hastings street which you wanna avoid. P.S watch out for drug syringes lying around the streets.

With the recent exodus of massive new building
projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which
has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas;
is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before.
Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian
cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking,
Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a
space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes
