I actually really liked this museum, it had plenty of authentic police items from over the years. I especially liked the police weapon display with old and new ones. The had old tommy guns and a uzi even. I really liked the confiscated item display, it was very large, with some creative items. Buy tickets at groupon, got ours for... More

This little museum was extremely charming and a fun intro to a small part of Vancouver's history. I love weird little museums that feel like grandma's attic but if you don't like poking around by yourself this one isn't for you. Probably the most unique aspect is the fact that you can walk around in the actual old city morgue.... More

Interesting museum. Good to learn about the history of the area in relation to the local police. Friendly and helpful staff. Not in the nicest areas of Vancouver but we walked and didn't have any problems.

Very thorough explanation of historical use of building. Lots of students even took pictures of old guns, weapons, counterfeit money, drugs, etc. They enjoyed seeing the jail cell. Then there was the morgue which creeped out a couple of the girls because they wondered if it was clean despite the fact there hadn't been a dead body on the premises... More

I've been here a few times now and I love it. Its not the biggest exhibit but I love learning about the history of Vancouver. I would highly recommend doing one of the walks they offer around the city.

There is a great multifaceted exhibit that looks into gang violence. Very informative. Other exhibits focuse on weapons, counterfeiting, murder, death and disease, police history. There are many things for kids to do (dress up in police uniforms, think and learn). We spent about an hour and a half here. It is in a very poor area of town, but... More

Small but perfectly formed museum! Lovely staff to greet you! Lots of interesting stuff - hours of fun on the photo fit computer! Morgue was a bit eerie but a must see. BUT don't walk up West Hastings Street to get there, bit scary with all the vagrants injecting drugs openly. Feels very unsafe - one Street either side better.... More

The Vancouver Police Museum offers walking tours of either the red light district (which we took part in) and the Opium dens. Our tour guide led us through the streets of Vancouver taking us to the past when the red light district was running rampant as the ladies called out to the men who built this city. A wonderful tour... More

My husband and I decided to stop by on our last day in Vancouver. The museum takes up one floor only and at first glance it doesn't look like there's much to see, but we ended up spending almost two hours here. It's situated in the city's old morgue, which adds a cool element. They actually still have the original... More

Good rainy day activity! You will spend about 2 hours there looking through many interesting exhibits and reading stories of crimes happened in Vancouver. Autopsy room was also interesting! I had no idea Canada had active mafia and gang like Chicago! The street that we walk to get there is filled with homeless. People smoking weed in open - little... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
