Photowalks are the best way to see our beautiful city, learn and practice...

Photowalks are the best way to see our beautiful city, learn and practice the basics of photography, and get out of the automatic setting on your camera! In two hours, we cover exposure, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, composition and basic portraiture. You are guaranteed to have a ton of FUN! Lead by a professional photographer, you are given tools, and an opportunity to explore a scenic area (Stanley Park, Canada Place, Chinatown, Gastown, Strathcona and Granville Island) with your camera, and given small learning objectives. Introductory classes are offered during the day, and more intermediate low-light classes in the evening.

Gastown Night Photo Walk

Excellent walk. Whilst keen photographer I had not done a lot of night photography and this walk was both very informative and enjoyable. Would highly recommend.

I spent 2 hours with Isabel on an unforgettable photography night. I am a landscape hobbyist and not familiar with cityscape photography techniques. Isabel was very informative and took me to fantastic locations. She knows the city very well and takes you to locations you wouldn't expect. Non typical tourist locations. I have come away with a few unique exposures... More

Isabel was our guide in our Stanley Park phototour. I was amazed that she knows the park like the back of her hand, and she can see the beauty in small places, and even with bad weather (we went in march, and it was raining and cloudy) she manages to show us where and how to take beautiful picture. Her... More

I signed up for the Canada Place photowalk with our guide Barbara and had a wonderful experience. Barbara is lovely, kind, and a wonderful guide. She showed us around some of the most beautiful and photogenic parts of the neighbourhood while teaching myself and two others about our cameras and how to take beautiful pictures. We learned about some of... More

We chose Vancouver Photo Walks after quite a bit of research into what to do for a special birthday treat when we were in Vancouver for 3 days before boarding a California-bound repositioning cruise. It's a local company that offers guided walking tours around the city, and what makes this tour unique is that your guide is a professional photographer... More

Ricardo our photography guide, was trully passionate about photography and getting the perfect shot. He was able to accomodate novice photographers and was full of helpful advice on how to get brilliant photos in every situation. Cameras and tripods can be rented. If travelling in winter, wrap up warm and bring comfortable shoes. Don't bring big handbags as you'll have... More

I did the Granville Island tour with my friend. Ricardo was a great guide. Giving us valuable information and showing us some great spots to take pictures. I had a fun night, would highly recommend the tour for people of all levels. Don't forget your gloves in winter though (haha), it can get cold on the water.

My 13 yo daughter got a good camera in the summer and was interested in learning new techniques so I got her a tour for her birthday. We braved the cold and wet to learn just a ton about photography techniques (it turns out my cel phone camera offers a lot of control.) Isobel, our guide, was really knowledgeable and... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
