The UBC museum of Anthropology is magnificent! Thousands of relics cultural from First Nations to other indigenous people from around the world. It may sound strange but I felt the entire place was powerful. Lives past and present. Story poles, methods to make boxes, I...More

I wouldn't have thought it was worth taking the journey out to the university from downtown, but I was wrong. I regret not setting aside more time there now. I originally took the bus out to visit the museum of Anthropology and that alone is...More

We didn't have much time to explore. We were there for a convocation ceremony. Spent some time in a lovely rose garden.

Walking through the campus I felt as if it was a completely self-contained city. The gardens were extremely well manicured and made me wish I was young again so I could become part of this learning institute.

The gardens are worth seeing. The campus is lovely, filled with friendly and polite students. The buildings are also architecturally interesting. Neighborhoods leading up to the campus are lovely as well.

Lots of building going on when I visited. Lovely gardens and a range of architectural styles. The bookshop is full of a huge range of books and gift items. Really good special's table.

Huge campus with lovely landscaped areas and interesting buildings. There is a natural history museum within the university. There are also public beaches on the periphery of the university.

There aren't a huge amount of sit-and-eat restaurants per se on the campus - there is Mahony and Sons, The Pointe Grill and a few others, but the rest are more casual/quick bite or fast food type eats.

You can use Bus 44 to get to the Faculty of Education at UBC from your corner at Thurlow and pacific street. (I cannot post a google maps link; yet it is easy to search using Google maps from your end)

We only have a couple of days in Vancouver and want to see, eat and drink as much as possible. We were planning to stay at UBC because it is so affordable, but will we spend all of our time traveling from there to the more fun parts of the city? One traveler says it's 20 minutes on public transportation from UBC to Stanley Park, but Google maps says an hour. Don't want to spend our limited time commuting! Thanks!

UBC is an affordable option for staying - but you will need public transit to commute to downtown. If you haven't already booked, you may want to check out the YMCA right downtown. You could walk to everything from there... More
