The Queen Elizabeth theatre is small and intimate and offers good viewing at least from the orchestra and mezzanine. I saw Programme 1 by their distinguished Spanish choreographer and enjoyed its 4 presentations immensely. Particularly moving was the piece choreographed as a lament to his father. Overall the show was accomplished and beautiful and I was sad it wasn't sold... More

We went to see the Nutcracker Ballet and it was absolutely beautiful! Let me put it this way..it is a better way to see men in tights than watching football!! No sweat, no dirt, no swear..just pure..beauty and elegance..in tights!

Ballet BC is worth the effort to go and see. They are a beautiful and extremely talented company. Everyone can dance at the level of each and every one of their piers. A strong and enthusiastic company that are sure to delight you and really give you something to think about. It is art but they give such meaning to... More

When one spends that kind of money to support the arts, it would seem logical to treat your paying customers with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, this was hardly the case when visiting Ballet BC at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. To my utter shock, the attendant was quick to interrogate me in a smug and demeaning manner for wishing to go... More

ballet BC's artistic director, Emily Molnar, is a curator of world class dance opportunity. in addition to setting her own work on her company, she invites world class choreographers to set their pieces on a versatile company. timeless performances that i wish would never end.

Worth seeing! Ballet BC has been in Vancouver for 25 years. It has recently undergone some big changes--it's a strong, small, lean company that is doing some interesting work.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
