I did a day hike from Botanical Beach to Sombrio Beach, which was about 20 km (12.5 miles). Beforehand I assumed that the sections along the beach would be easy because they'd be flat, but I was wrong. One section of beach was made up...More

Right next to China Beach, There's a 2 kms easy to moderate hike through a rainforest that will take you to an amazing beach with sandstone cliffs, caves to explore, a swinging rope into the ocean, a hanging swing, and many little surprises, a beautiful...More

If you are looking for a lovely hike with a destination that has a great view, take the one hour hike from the trailhead of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail toward Mystic Beach (most people go to China Beach). It is a very simple...More

Just hiked this trail. The trail is seriously degraded. There has been no upgrades in 20 years. At some parts the trail is poorly marked. There is a considerable amount of deep mud and the trail is steep, slippery and difficult to navigate. A challenging...More

I hiked the entire trail as my first multi day hike. Started at the north end (botanical beach) and ended in mystic beach. It was awesome. Ne careful with the tide. Some campgrounds are only accessible at low tide. Bring a rain jacket and warm...More

Having travelled this trail a number of times it can be enjoyed a number of ways. Short day hike challenges to tackling the entire trail as an adventure. Every bit as good as the West Coast Trail this complement of easy access and fun tidal...More

Have hiked the West Coast Trail 2X so wanted to try something a little different. We just did day hikes but seemed to be less of a steeplechase than WCT. Fewer mud bogs, giant trees to scramble over, no ladders, and no trolleys. Also more...More

I spent four days hiking the trail from end to end in July. The combination of the mud, roots, elevation, rain can sometimes make the journey a very challenging hike I thought it was more than worth it for the spectacular views and incredibly sense...More

Just to add to that, Barkley Sound, a few hours north, is a kayaker's paradise, and is worth a week-long trip on its own.
