Since 1914, the 772-seat McPherson Playhouse has been at the heart of Victoria's community arts scene. Built as part of the Pantages Theatre chain, this historic theatre is host to local companies including Kaleidoscope Theatre, Victoria Operatic Society, and Blue Bridge Repertory Summer Theatre in addition to presenting many professional theatre and concert performances year round. The McPherson lobby is home to The Gallery at the MAC, a showcase for local and regional visual art.

Nice theatre, great shows

I had a good view from where I sat, St. Mikes was putting on a fantastic show, and there was a great art gallery upstairs. No problems! Just a good time at a comfortable theatre.

This theatre is an amalgam of modernist architecture outside, a spacious lobby with some nice touches like a glass strip running along the staircase which gives you a sense of floating. Inside the actual theatre, you time travel back to a very traditional theatre which looks like it was designed in the 1930s or 1040s. Its a surprise to be... More

This is an oldish theatre in a great location downtown. Seating is not the best. Very cramped and upstairs balcony gives one a virtigo. Would be a nightmare to vacate in case of an emergency!

The Acoustics when you are up in the balcony or second level is less than to be desired. There were many instances where we missed complete sentences :(

We attended a very exceptional performance of Phantom of the Opera, produced by students and staff of St. Michael's University School, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

I have heard countless comedy acts, concerts, and plays at McPherson. I have yet to sit anywhere in the theater where the sight line and acoustics are not great.

The Shawnigan Lake School presented the Wizard of Oz. it never ceases to amaze me how good our youth can present themselves until you see them do something like this. High School kids can pull off anything they want. The McPherson Theatre is old school in modern form, it compliments those evenings of getting away - such a great authentic... More

A great theatre...a bit of old world charm. Has a comfy feel to it...not too large. Very little parking on site, however there is a parking lot within 2 blocks (1st hour free). Transit service to the theatre is available.

Great show, comfy seats, and very good views. The theatre was very handy to nearby restaurants and the show was excellent.

"Ballet Rocks" in Victoria was a wonderfully choreographed ballet. The music was lively and the dancers were awesome! The McPherson theatre has comfortable seating. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
