The Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre is a three-storey, 30,400-square foot award-winning First Nations tourism facility. Guests are offered a guided tour from a local First Nation cultural ambassador who share their knowledge and stories while visiting the many displays and artifacts on display. Guests enjoy a cultural performance of drums and song as well as the chance to learn, hands-on, an indigenous craft. The facility is designed to evoke a traditional Squamish longhouse and a Lil'wat Istken (pit house) and is surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. Designed to preserve and renew local First Nations' cultures and to share these living cultures with the world; the experience includes Class A museum space to house rare artifacts, a gift gallery, a cafe and an 80 seat HD theatre.

Our tour guide was Brittani Smith, she was very informative and gave us a rich insight of the indigenous Culture of Canada. There is a lot to see in the centre, with a rich set of artwork, carvings and tapestry. She was very informative and showed us many beautiful carvings of totems and canoes which were used by the people... More

I had a day to myself with all the rest of the family out on the slopes and so I spent a couple of hours visiting the Cultural Centre. I wish I had brought the kids as there was so much they would have enjoyed as well. The host was very informative and entertaining, and the whole atmosphere very welcoming.... More

Having watched this museum being built and passing by it for years I'm glad I finally took the opportunity to visit. Such an interesting perspective into the local First Nations tribes from the Whistler region. Guided tours on the hour and only takes about an hour to visit. Highly encourage

Our guide, Beth Milton, was very nice. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and covered a lot of information. My friend and I loved making the traditional Squamish bracelets. I would recommend a visit to the cultural center if your in Whistler.

We popped by while on a business trip. We did a tour and our guide Holly was fantastic. She shared stories from her people, her family and upbringing among the li'lwat people, and what she has learned about her neighbours the Squamish. The centre also has a museum of artifacts, multiple artists featured, contemporary and not, and a section on... More

As I was staying close by, I decided to take a peek on my free ski day. It was interesting enough, however, coming from Australia, I found it very similar to our aborigines; heritage so not so surprising. For lunch, I had the seafood chowder which was the best I tasted in Canada and the gift shop had some high... More

Do not miss this visiting this cultural center. The history of the Squamish and Lil'wat nations is important, and opportunities to learn some traditional practices are offered on site.

The cultural centre is a good visit if you are interested in the local indigenous culture, however, when we visited and undertook the guided toutr, our tour was very short compared to friends that had it the day before. They tried clothes that we weren't even offered to, they touched and felt, material that we were not allowed to. Price... More

Every hour, on the hour, a knowledgeable guide takes you through the centre providing many very interesting glimpses into the culture of the local first nations communities. Even some rope making for everyone using treated cedar bark strips.
