Geologic wonder. The mountains are great. But the unique geology and layering of the earths mantle is what truly makes the mountains special.

The trail offers very nice views, both at lookouts on the way up and at the top. There is also a much shorter trail at the bottom that leads to a beautiful waterfall. Bring lunch or snacks and have a rest at the top.

Governer's Staircase is a challenge to people with stair phobias. (My partner is one of those people.) However, it is so well constructed and kept that the phobias are relatively easy to be overcome. The trail offers nice profile of the coastal spruce forest with...More

There is a nice hike in Blow Me Down Provincial Park called Govenor's Staircase. It has stairs (300+) to the top and is doable for most if you take your time & stop to catch your breath...and bring water!

An amateur geologist's dream - to see the rocks and minerals of the earth's mantle, on the surface. you have to hike in a little ways, at the foot of the mountains, to see this, but I felt like I was on the moon (okay,...More

We did the hike to get to the top - very doable if you are in fair shape.... although, having said that, half of us bailed half-way up. Incredible view at top. Easy to follow paths.

There is no public transportation to that area. You would need to take a taxi from the nearest town: Corner Brook. It would be best to ask how much it would cost in advance, as it is well out of town.
