Near Marine Drive...awesome view of Logy Bay Point & lots more hiking if you want! Some narrow parts on trail...not sure I'd want to take the younger kids for this one.

If you love to hike than this is the trail for you. The trail offers amazing views and provides a great opportunity for exploring Newfoundlands coastline from hidden coves to abandoned villages there is something for everybody. Best time to hike is in July-August however one shall always be prepared for ever changing weather.

I live in St. John's so I have easy access to the East Coast Trail. I've probably hiked about half of the trails, but many times over. The nice thing about the East Coast Trail is that you can choose an easy or hard trail, a long or short one. There are many access points along the Avalon Peninsula to... More

I planned to thru-hike the ECT but was derailed by some family business that dramatically shortened my trip. I still was able to spend some time exploring the beautiful coastline of Newfoundland. I went late in the season which brings in a couple concerns - it's moose hunting season, the weather can be bad (raining/cold) and there are no (at... More

Beautiful rugged trail system that spans the eastern coastal waters around the Avalon Peninsula of NL. For the most part, these trails have elevation and require footing over various types of rock. You need footwear with a sturdy sole that has grip. You don't want to be slipping on a rock and getting caught on a jagged fragment. I would... More

It's long! And very different from one section to another. If you plan to hike/camp- it's not quite set up for that in general. There are some sections which have campsite - others are simply long coastal trails. It's worth going to an information desk and seeking the specifics of the section of the trail your are nearest. It is,... More

I am a regular hiker of the trail. There are maps available for purchase. I have traveled extensively but the vistas from this trail never fail to captivate me. I am a member of the East Coast trail Association. The annual fee is well worth paying because the volunteers do awesome work.

Hiking any bit of the East Coast Trail is wonderful. Beauty scenery and great exercise. Nice, well maintained trails.
