Beautiful hike

Great views along the way. The end on top of Mica Hill is superb. All of the mica lying around from old mines is neat.

Under construction
Aug 2019
The trail was under construction but we didn’t notice the sign till the way back. Not well marked. The trail normally does a loop but this time was just 4 km up to viewpoint turnaround and come back. The trail had very little shade and we hiked in the blazing sun. Was my least favourite hiking trail on the Cabot trail. We did not meet many people on the trail so it was good for letting the dog off leash to roam. The view was nice but like I said not my favourite trail.

Interesting and not difficult!

This trail takes you through a taiga ecosystem, complete with pitcher plants, reindeer lichen, laurel, and lots of other really cool plants. Didn't see any moose, but saw moose droppings. Saw a loon in breeding plumage on the little pond just off to the side at the start of the trail. Most of the hike is very much exposed, so dress accordingly!

Are we in Scotland?
Sep 2017 • Couples
We enjoyed this trail immensely. First we went through woods and then we saw the beauty of the lowlands. It’s as if we were back in Scotland. It looked like Scotland, but truly it was still Cape Breton.

There were many flowers. There were some white flowers all over towards the end of the trail. The views were also amazing. The ocean could be seen most of the time.

We saw a male grouse and it was not shy. Cool!

Next time I am back in Cape Breton, I will come to this trail again. It’s amazing! Wow!
