Overview
More
HMCS Sackville, the last remaining Flower Class corvette in the world, symbolizes the extraordinary effort of Canadians seventy years ago during the Second World War. Restored to her wartime configuration she serves as a museum and memorial to those lost during the Battle of the Atlantic and to honour those who serve and continue to serve in the Naval Service of Canada. HMCS Sackville is currently undergoing a major refit and unfortunately will not be open to visitors until the summer of 2019.

Canada produced these ships during WWII so quickly. They did heavy duty in the frigid North Atlantic. The men (I assume they were all male back then) must have endured great hardship in these little "Defenders of the North". Great visit!

Had an excellent guided tour by a student guide. I am already a trustee of the memorial. Some of the ladders are rather steep for those with mobility problems. Excellent historical review.

An old WWII Corvette war ship that we were able to wander through from top to engine. Everything is well labelled which made it easy to understand life on a working war ship. Very historic and well preserved.

This boat was quite interactive. Unfortunately due to lack of money- there is some of the items that are not in full working order-- but hopefully the more people who visit the better condition they can keep the ship. I knew nothing about these kinds...More

2 hours will be plenty (if you have questions and want to talk to the staff) but otherwise if you just want to see living conditions etc 30 would be fine
