McDougall Cottage is an excellent example of a better than typical local stone cottage in downtown Cambridge (Galt). It offers a view into the past while preserving an important piece of Cambridge's local architectural history. Galt particularly has an important collection of fine Heritage buildings and so the whole town is worth a visit. The house is the work of... More

We were lucky enough to make it to a nearly private concert in the back garden. Angus entertained our small, but enthusiastic gathering.

The historic building is beautiful and full of art. We went for the tartan tea on a very warm afternoon. Tea and treats were brought to our table by a friendly server. The cucumber sandwiches were delicious and the sweets were very sweet. The choice of tea was also quite nice. A relaxing place to talk with a good friend!... More

Do yourself a real favour and spend a summer's Sunday afternoon having a Tartan Tea here. The tea and appropriate tea sandwiches, scones, sweets are served with authentic care. You'll so enjoy the cottage and its amazingly painted ceiling charm. You'll dial back the time clock and enjoy something you could only otherwise imagine. Joleen was a superb hostess and... More

The cottage is more of a gallery than a museum with lots of kid friendly stuff going on. That have very nice High Tea on Sunday's with entertainment and very reasonable. The cottage... More

We visited the cottage on Family Day because they were offering free crafts for kids. It's great from the outside and there was plenty of parking. You have to ring a bell to enter and my children (3 and 6) were delighted by that. Everything was free but there are donations boxes around. Inside there were 3 different crafts set... More

If it wasn't for the ceiling paintings, and believe me, they are astounding. I would have listed this place as poor! There are no rooms set up to show us the period, or its historical significance. The book that our Hostess showed us, was more of the restoration that had been done. The kitchen is used as an office, so... More
