We come 3 or 4 times every year and usually the shows are excellent. Grand Hotel is based on a movie by the same name that won the Best Picture Oscar back in 1932. Bound to be a winner, right? Nope. What a disappointment. Story...More

It held me from beginning to end. Most people have seen the original play or movie "The Grand Hotel". It was rewritten into a musical product in the 1990s. The Hotel is in Berlin and the scenario is placed at 1928, just before the rise...More

I went to see the play on May 13, 2018 at 1 pm. We took the Shaw Bus from Toronto and it was great. I love Niagara-On-the Lake and I go to the Shaw Festival every year since 2014. This was my first play this...More

2nd time seeing this. This production was amazing. Extremely well acted. Loved it. Had lunch right there...soup and salads. Delicious. There is also a full selection of wines, coffees, teas. Beautiful setting. I go every year.

The story line is rather weak. We were there with friends who saw the play many years ago and said the setting was much better. They seem to have modernized it so it did not have that fabulous old world feel. Some of the acting...More

Excellently choreographed but a frenetic and jumbled adaptation. Actors stumbling over lines, vocals that could cut glass; all in all a suboptimal experience. Not Shaw quality. . The Marquee seating (that and its cost was a surprise) was good but hardly worth the extra $$$....More

Even if you're not an aficionado of stage productions, everyone should make an effort to take in show at this quintessential Ron Thom theatre. Perfect sightlines from every seat. Ample space for the audience to spend intermission on one of the patios.
