Owned by the City of Oshawa, and managed by Spectra Venue Management, the General Motors Centre opened in 2006 with a project cost of $45 million. As Durham Region’s premier Sports and Entertainment Facility, the General Motors Centre provides a first-class home to the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League, the Durham TurfDogs of the Canadian Lacrosse League and the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame. The venue also boasts an in-house restaurant, Prospects Bar & Grill, which is open typically 2 hours prior to live and sporting events as well as throughout the week for the Durham Central Adult Hockey League (DCAHL).

Since opening, the General Motors Centre has hosted major concerts and special events including Elton John, Cirque du Soleil, 2011 BDO Canadian Open, IIHF World Junior Pre-Competition, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Hedley, Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships, Selena Gomez and The Wiggles; just to name a few!

WOW what a great venue! Great seating and sight lines. Only complaint would be more or better parking.

I have been to The General Motors Center many time to see concerts starting with the first one which was INXS. It is a great venue with all the seating being good if not great. It is better then the Rodgers Centre and the ACC. They keep the Centre clean and tidy and have courtious staff. Hockey games also have... More

Love watching the Generals at the GM center. It's clean, commentary is great. Food and drink prices are as expected to be in a 5 star event. Nice night out for all ages. They always have something going on. The center is clean and bright. No bad seating. It is one of the nicest arenas I have been in. April

We watched an NHL alumni game between Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadians. It was very entertaining and we enjoyed the game!

Oshawa's GM Centre is an excellent venue to watch hockey. It's right in the middle of downtown, has plenty of inexpensive parking and offers great seating to watch a game. There isn't a bad seat in the place.

Been to many Generals games and some concerts. It's a big upgrade from the old Civic. Not as much parking available as the Civic, but there is ample within walking distance. Pretty much what you'd expect as far as value. Has a nice bar/restaurant.
