While it may not be worth a visit just to see the Bytown Museum, the location adjacent to the Ottawa Locks and adjacent to Parliament make it well worth a visit. Enjoy!

It's right on the Ottawa Locks on the Canal. You can't miss this. It's the best place to get a thorough history of Ottawa from pre-colonialism to the building of Parliament. It's the only place the talks about Ottawa.

This is a great attraction, entry fee is $1.50 per person. Wonderful way to lean about the construction of the locks and history of the early days of Ottawa.

The Bytown museum is located on the Rideau canal , housed in an original stone administrative/warehouse . This structure was built in the 1800's. there is some very interesting history about Bytown,(Ottawa) , and how the name change occurred .

This is the oldest standing building in Ottawa and has a fascinating history. I recommend taking the tour and then you can browse on your own afterwards.
