This is always a popular attraction for tourists! I myself am a Canadian and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the guards marching around in their bear hats, and trumpeting their instruments! The music is always so upbeat and patriotic! It always makes me feel proud to be Canadian to see them do their thing! I always find it very amusing to... More

Show up early to parliament and be entertained by the daily ritual. Something you should make the time to see on your visit. Takes approximately 30 minutes

Twice this year, we brought different visitors from out of town with very young children who had never seen he parade and ceremony downtown. As you can imagine, this involves getting the kids ready, leaving in time to find parking, paying for parking downtown and making your way to Wellington or Parliament Hill. Twice, the ceremony was cancelled, leaving kids... More

Changing of the guard is one of the best (and free) attractions to enjoy while in Ottawa, in Parliament Hill at 10AM. I've visited it twice, a few years ago and right now, always in Summer, and in my opinion (British maybe would not agree with me) it is better and prettier than changing of the guard in Buckingham Palace... The Guard marches from the Cariter Drill Hall which is located best the Ottawa City Hall and visitors can walk along side on the 15 min walk to Parliament Hill which makes it... More

Arrive about 9.45 any morning in the summer and watch this spectacle, make sure you have plenty of water as there is little shade. I found this really enjoyable, the guards were smart and the band well worth listening to.

We took my father in law and his wife, who are visiting from Australia, to Parliament Hill to watch the changing of the guard. Aside from the obvious military pageantry of the drill itself, watching the soldiers performing in their scarlet tunics and bear skin caps with the Parliament Buildings as their back drop makes the whole thing very special.... My wife and I took our 7 year old grand daughter on a road trip to Ottawa this summer in order for her to take in the Changing of The Guard amongst other things. We had seen this our self's about 35 + years ago and i must say it has only gotten better and worth while seeing if visiting... More

If you want a prime spot to for photography, arrive by 9 am. You can still obtain a decent spot by 9:15, but any later and you take your chances. Great presentation, with concise history lesson over speaker. Changing of the Guard lasts from 9:45 until about 10:30 am.

Even morning at 945. During the summer Go to the parliament building to see. Great views from any position. I missed it at Buckingham Palace. I understand it is the same ceremony. Loved it. A must see
