This spot is close to the Rideau Canal and several other important places of interest. The arboretum has many temperate trees, shrubs and floweing species grown in a compact area. This is a source of information for biology students in particular and the general public in general. Located nearby is the Canadian Museum of Agriculture, Dow's Lake, Carleton University and... We went for a long walk in the Arboretum on a beautiful warm sunny November day. The Arboretum is a huge green space in central Ottawa. You can walk along the Rideau Canal (which we did), take the trails, or just stroll amongst the trees. It's the spot where locals walk their dogs, bike, jog and picnic. The Arboretum is... More

You got to love this place during the summer! It's such a nice area to just relax and enjoy the sun by the water or underneath the shade of a tree. With its bike paths it's easily accessible by biking or walking. Don't forget to bring a picnic!

I've been a few times with different friends for walks or runs/roller blading. It was beautiful to go to in the summer but bring your own water!

A delight any time of year but especially beautiful on a crisp, sunny fall day when you can admire the colourful foliage.

We went out to the Experimental Farms on a Sunday. We were disappointed to find that the greenhouse was not open. As it was October, the Ornamental Gardens were past their prime. We could visualize that they would be lovely in the summer. A wedding party showed up with their photographer just as we were leaving. We drove around the... More

My daughter was recently married and while preparing for the wedding which was in the vicinity of the Arboretum, we learned through a third party that a permit was needed prior to arriving on the grounds to take wedding pictures. I was able to track down the person through email to make this request. She immediately gave me her phone... More

One of the best public green spaces of any city in the world. Not too far from downtown, but integrated well into the surroundings with the vast collection of trees, and nice views over the canal and surrounding city.

There is free parking in various places here, some limited to 90 minutes. The grounds are huge with lovely mature trees and some interesting buildings but they are not open to the public. Do not miss the ornamental gardens to the left of the entrance.

Visited the arboretum with our young baby in the stroller/pushchair. Lovely way to spend an afternoon, easy pushing for the stroller
