It is difficult to improve on the reviewers who talk of "A Place for the Soul" and "Spiritual, not Tourist Destination". But I'll try to describe my experience. There are two buildings: The Visitor Center (or" Learning Place") and the building which houses the Petroglyph...More

The place evokes a sense of reverence for the Indigenous Past. The spiritual nature of the area is noticeably felt. The teachings reveal wisdom as old as time and the truth that all in LIFE is connected and has its roots in the DIVINE. I...More

This venue provides an informative look at the indigenous education process and how oral teachings are/were passed along. The signage plus the interpretation centre is helpful but I would like to go back for one of the evening talks where lights are used to see...More

Our family came here while visiting the area for the week. We spent a couple of hours here, primarily to visit the rock carvings. This is a very sacred place for the Indigenous. Many have come/come to leave offerings, which are eventually burned. It is...More

This place is amazing! So many hiking trails, the petroglyphs themselves are awesome, they are in a building to protect them no pictures allowed, but they are breathtaking to experience. The learning centre has so much information and experience the spiritual side of the native...More

Fantastic experience and a great story. To see these rocks is to appreciate a way of life almost entirely forgotten. It's awing, inspiring and definitely worth the trip if you are in the area. The trails are well marked and very clean. We did not...More

We drove up here from Peterborough on a recent trip through Ontario. We heard about petroglyphs and from the website we found it sounded like you could see the glyphs while hiking. It sounded similar to an excursion I went on through Utah's Canyonlands where...More

I have returned to the Petroglyphs time and time again. First when, as a kid it was possible to walk on the rock directly. I support the protection of the glyphs with the newer building which protects the sacred space from weather and tourists (like...More

For friends wanting to get out of the busy city of Toronto to do a hike, Petroglyphs Provincial Park seemed a bit far to travel. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the ride to the park. The park is rugged and natural, unlike other parks I've seen. I...More

This is a wonderful place to hike in all seasons with several trails of different lengths. Do go into the Visitors Centre with the largest known collection of aboriginal rock carvings.( not open in the off season) Really interesting

I would think that it is possible to get a tour guide for your class. As the park is closed for the winter, you will not be able to get your questions answered until they open. Most of the staff are summer students and are... More

We had only 30 minutes, or so, to view the Petroglyphs before closing -- enough time to absorb the sense of this site. Did not spend any time in the Visitor's Center, but it is relatively small, so I would think an hour to... More
