I have visited the museum quite often in the past year. Staff are very helpful and eager to assist with questions. My grandchildren love to visit too. Learning about where they live. Also a play area for the kids. Donations taken. So cheap day out for a family.

There is a platform for watching the huge ships pass through the locks and a museum of historical facts about the building of the canals as well as the settling of the area. This really is fascinating. We watched a 600 ft ship pass through the lock - incredible!

This is a truly memorable place. Outside and up along the canal, you get a real perspective of the size, capacity and monumental structure. The museum is first class with great detail on construction, lacrosse - yes lacrosse, vehicles, Native American dress. A real variety but connected with very friendly staff.

What an view of the working locks! I am sure the museum is fantastic; but we were so entranced by watching the ships transverse the locks that we didn't leave ourselves enough time to visit the museum. This will be a future trip with grandchildren!

This is a place you must visit! Its closer to Niagara Falls so it could be a nice side trip while visiting Niagara Falls. The Museum has a lot of educational exhibits. You should visit this place while a ship is passing by so you can see all the operational steps involved in to get a ship through a lock.... More

We were looking for a side trip from Niagara on the Lake and happened upon this wonderful museum. We were very lucky to arrive right when a very large cargo ship was negotiating the locks. It was fascinating and some volunteer guides were walking around answering questions and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. The museum itself was also fascinating... More

Attention every one! Pls make sure to visit this place if you are heading to or from Niagara Falls Ontario! This is a must see and experience for all ages. To see these monster cargo ships goes from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario and wiseversa through the lift locks and the canal

Some fun local history, but the main draw here is the Canal viewing platform, particularly interesting if a ship is traversing the locks at that time. Most people don't realize how close this technological marvel is to Niagara Falls, because if they did this place would probably be packed.

Its all about the Welland Canal. Its an amazing location for viewing, learning, and families to spend together. The museum is clean and has much to see. One of the greatest highlights will be the Lock filling and lowering large frieghters!! You will need patience as it takes a short bit of time for the locks to fill. There are... More

Situated on one of the Lockgates on Welland canal, this donation-entry museum housed a surprisingly impressive collection of artefacts and exhibits that detail the history entrenched in this region. As an international traveller, I found this was a great focal point to learn about Niagara's past. There are items from both World Wars, along with a section dedicated to the... More
